Brook House Situated down a quiet private lane Brook House was once the manor of Brook mentioned in the Domesday survey. The Clamorgan family occupied it for 300 years and Henry VI was entertained at there by Dame Joan Bowerman in 1499. The house was completely rebuilt in the early 18th century and then remodelled again in 1854 by the then owner Mr Charles Seely, MP for Lincoln. On his death the house was passed on to his son Sir Charles Seely who added a third storey and extended the estate buying farms all accross the southern coast of the Island. The estate was sold in 1958 and the house split up. The house's current owners Geoff & Belinda Walters have lovingly restored the house and reunited all the main buildings to form a stunning home with beautiful gardens. Location Brook and Hulverstone are both just a few minutes from the south coast of the Island, with the closest beaches being those at Brook Bay and Compton. The closest pub is the Sun Inn at Hulverstone, which is just a few steps from the Old School and a 5 or 10 minute walk from Brook House. The pub offers a good selection of local beers and good pub food, both in its restaurant ande in the beer garden with fabulous views out to sea. Brighstone is the closest village, some 3 miles away, with small shops, pubs and tea rooms. Freshwater is just a little further, along the Military Road, and offers a range of shops, including small supermarkets, an indoor sports centre and swimming pool, golf course, library and petrol station.
