  Brook House, Isle of Wight

Welcome to Brook House

In the beautiful and unspoilt village of Brook in rural West Wight, there is the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday. At Brook House, there is a choice of self-catering holiday cottages – Westbrook and Northbrook, each set in the courtyard to Brook House, and the Old Coach House – all three enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the old Brook House estate. There is also the Old School in the tiny and picturesque village of Hulverstone, just a short walk from Brook House.

Each of our properties offers style, charm and character - as well as comfort and all the essentials that you will need for a wonderful holiday on the Island. They – and the Island – offer something to delight everyone, whether you are looking for a family holiday, a walkers paradise or a quiet and romantic interlude. You can stay for a week (or two…) or just come for a short break.

Westbrook and Northbrook sit, one above the other, across the courtyard from the imposing Brook House, where the owners live.

Brook

Our Holiday Cottages

WESTBROOK sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, and has its own spacious garden.

NORTHBROOK sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms and has a dedicated paved area in the courtyard. Please be aware that the main living accommodation in Northbrook is on the second floor, so comfort with stairs is essential!

THE OLD COACH HOUSE is next door to Brook House and was exactly what its name suggests! It sleeps 8 (plus 2 children) in 4 bedrooms. It enjoys a sheltered, cobbled courtyard and lawned garden.

THE OLD SCHOOL sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, and has an additional bunk room which can sleep a further 6. It has a large gated front garden, and a lawned, enclosed garden at the rear.

For larger parties, we would be happy to look at booking more than one property for you.

All of our properties are happy to welcome a dog, but only by arrangement.

Brook and the West Wight

We are only a few minutes drive from the stunning beaches at Brook and Compton and the National Trust downlands, with some of the finest views of the Island.

There are a host of walking trails and paths, both locally and across the Island as a whole. From us, you can walk up onto the Downs, giving you access to the Tennyson trail and other inland paths and trails; then there is the Island Coastal Path, offering over 60 miles of paths. Close by, you can fish (from sea or land), shoot, sail, windsurf, kiteboard, surf, ride, paraglide, charter a boat, play golf and cycle – to give you just a few options. We are happy to help with any information or arrangements that you would need for any activities.

There are many places on the Island to enjoy great – and local – food, ranging from village pubs to a Michelin starred restaurant. Keen cooks may want to use the well equipped kitchens to make the most of the nearby to Island farm shops and artisan suppliers, such as local lamb from Dunsbury Farm, ice-cream from Chilton Farm, bread and cakes from the bakers in Freshwater and much, much more.

Within walking distance of the properties, there is a Post Office (with limited hours) and the local pub, the Sun Inn in Hulverstone, which has great local ales and pub food – as well as a garden with fantastic views out to sea.

The charming village of Brighstone, with its thatched roofs, shops, pubs, tea rooms and Post Office, is only 3 miles away, or the larger nearby town of Freshwater has many amenities, including an indoor swimming pool, sports centre, golf courses, shops, including small supermarkets, and library.

We look forward to welcoming you to stay.
